Welcome to SLMCC online
Putting the club on the virtual map.
We set up this website to promote the club, help new racers find us and give them enough information to come and race for the first time.
The site is also going to serve as our booking platform. It saves the committee time and stress by collecting payments and transponder details and collating all that info in a set of data that can be fed into the RC timing system.
it also means that we can somewhat manage the entries for each class meaning we have a better chance of good full heats of cars in each category.
You might see your preferred class sold out 😮. Maybe you have another car you can enter instead, or get in touch and we can add you to a wait list. We want you to come racing. The committee will evaluate the entries on the Thursday before race day and work out the best break down of classes.
generally speaking it works something like this.
modern 2wd. Has 32 places to book meaning a possible 4 heats of 8 cars. But if another class is possible we might knock this down to make 3 heats of 8 or 9 cars.
Modern 4wd is our least popular class and has just 9 places for 1 heat. If there are fewer than 3 entered we will notify you. Usually there is 5-6 entered for a good race.
Vintage 2wd and 4wd have 18 places each for 2 heats. This is only possible if modern 2wd is knocked down to 3 heats.
Sometimes 2wd is more popular than 4wd.
It is always best to book early as booking late might mean your chosen class is full. But don’t despair we will fit you in somewhere. We can sometime put the best vintage racers in with the modern cars for heats, or move things around a bit to make sure everyone gets a fun and competitive morning of racing.
Events like the Lakeland Classic and the rear motor day will also be available to book on this website soon.
There is a cost to running the site, but the committee see this should be quickly offset by guaranteeing payments are captured, memberships are maintained and new members come and find us and race.
What do you think of the new website and what information would you like to see?
